Our studio

Divine has created out a deeply personal space in the heart of downtown South Lyon. Here, we look to each other for support and empowerment, always hoping to guide one another in the journey to a more intentional yoga practice. That’s why we believe in keeping a clean, calming, and inviting studio space designed for yogis from all walks of life. We truly believe that no matter what your life is like outside of the studio space…

You will find something special within these four walls.

infrared heating

Our studio uses infrared heat technology to warm our practice room to enhance your yoga experience. Instead of less energy efficient forced-air heating systems, infrared panels directly heat the body, which means you won’t be practicing in a humid, uncomfortable room.

Your body will be gently warmed to increase flexibility and circulation, while relieving tension and pain, as well as aiding in weight loss. This therapeutic heat eases the body into the practice, allowing muscles to melt into poses, and enhances your practice, instead of distracting you with discomfort.

While this heating technique amplifies most every workout, not all of our classes are heated. Look for the heat indicator in our class descriptions to see which courses offer this great technology!

Cheryl Wickham

Cheryl is a registered E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, a licensed massage therapist, and the owner/director of Divine.

Cheryl facilitates techniques founded in alignment, philosophy, and a comprehensive knowledge of anatomy. She is an advocate of teaching through methodology, providing active assistance to her students, and creating thoughtful and intentional sequences for her classes. When she’s not leading classes, or running the studio, Cheryl dedicates her energy to offering a variety of professional, certified massage services. Her deep understanding of the body’s need for support advises her incorporation of both relaxation and deep tissue techniques–a necessary duality in massage that allows the body to heal itself.

Here at Divine, Cheryl empowers both our students and instructors, by creating an environment that celebrates what we can achieve, rather than focusing on what we can’t.

In 2013, Melissa completed her RYT-200 yoga teacher training with Cheryl, as well as Baptiste Level 1 training with Baron Baptiste.

Melissa credits yoga to shaping who she is, inspired to live each day through a lens of mindfulness, intentionality, and gratitude. Teaching and practicing yoga with others has become a central light in her life, and she is proud to do so among like-minded people in the special space at Divine.

Kara Vitale

Kara had a long-standing relationship with exercise though running and biking, while practicing yoga intermittently for nearly 15 years. She recognized the unique mind-body connection that yoga offered her–one which she couldn't find in other workouts. Despite this realization, Kara didn't find a studio that felt like home until she attended a class at Divine Power Yoga in 2013.

Since this experience, yoga has become a constant in her life, and after her first year as a student, Kara found herself wanting to become an instructor. Recognizing the time was right, in the fall of 2015, she began the RYT-200 hour teacher training program here at Divine. She claims that with each practice, she feels enlightened, calm, strong, and challenged–qualities she hopes to instill in each of her students.

Shawn Ramey

After spending 7 years taking cardio and strength training classes with minimal results, Shawn added yoga to her routine per her trainer’s recommendation. 5 years later, she claims yoga has transformed her life.

While enjoying the benefits of increased physical strength and greater flexibility, the practice of yoga has also taught Shawn how to manage stress. Recognizing it cannot completely eliminate stressors in life, Shawn believes yoga teaches its students how to respond, rather than react to difficult events, thoughts, or emotions. These tools reflect in our ability to remain resilient, and show up for ourselves every time we step on the mat.

Her passion for sharing these skills led her to complete the RYT-200 yoga teacher training with Cheryl at Divine Power Yoga and attend an All Day Immersion with Baron Baptiste in March of 2016. She later completed the Yoga Shred training in January 2018. Her passion is to continue her education so she may help her students learn the valuable lessons and tools founded in the practice of yoga.

Becca Shrader

First introduced to yoga by a college friend at the young age of 18, Becca was amazed, and had seen nothing like it before. The movement and breath–the way they were married in practice was utterly fascinating. Despite the instant attraction, work, school, and children kept Becca just busy enough that she found it difficult to settle into a regular yoga routine. However, no matter the passage of time, yoga always returned to her.

Having moved across the country in 2014 while raising two kids, firmly exhausted, Becca came to Divine Power Yoga. She has not left since. Her practice has become such an integral part of her life, she felt moved to further her practice, and after much deliberation and support from loved ones, she enrolled in the 200 hour teacher training program at Divine Power Yoga. During this time she has discovered more about herself than she had in the past 10 years! She has attended an all-day immersion in Kentucky in 2016, participated in Yogafest, Arm Balance and Inversions, Essential Oil workshops, healing bowls concerts, prenatal yoga and even goat yoga!

Becca recognizes that the practice of yoga can be difficult, but she believes that yoga’s teaching is diverse in nature and as such applies to most anyone. Centralized in the belief that taking care of the self first allows the individual to take care of others, Becca’s goal is to teach students that yoga is a state of mind, and unlocks our ability to heal ourselves. Her dream is to introduce yoga to as many people as possible and encourage those already submersed in the community to take their practice to the next level!

Raime Walsh

At 11 years old, Raime had her first yoga experience while listening to a guided yoga class on CD, trying to make sense of the tiny photos on the cover that illustrated the asanas. While attending college, Raime found a studio to visit on occasion, a sense of familiarity surrounded that space for her.

After finishing her Bachelors Degree and moving to South Lyon, she decided to bring yoga back into her life. Rediscovering the peace of mind, the ability to let go, and the feeling of being present was transformative. In the summer of 2016, Raime attended Divine and quickly understood she had found her yoga community.

Realizing her deep passion for yoga, Raime completed her RYT-200 training in the spring of 2018 with Cheryl's guidance. She has since completed the Baptiste Teacher Course, and spent a week in Ojai, California for Level 1 training in October of 2019. Raime aims to help students find that same peace of mind that pulls her back to her mat time and time again.

Coco Keehl

As a high-school athlete, Coco and her fellow teammates were encouraged to take yoga classes as a means to facilitate muscle recovery, increase flexibility, and prepare the body for races and competitions. In 2010, She found a 30 day trial period at a new yoga studio that combined her love of stretching with the intensity of heat. She was hooked. Feeling invigorated, exhausted, at peace, and the best version of herself was something no other sport had provided her.

Moving around after her college years, Coco discovered throughout the many transitions in her life, she consistently turned to yoga when in need of grounding and centering. After completing her 200 hours of training with Cheryl Wickham at Divine Yoga, Coco is excited to begin teaching as part of her practice, and aims to share what she loves and lives by with those around her.

When she is not at the studio, She enjoys hiking deep into the forests, writing, playing with her dog Carver, and running her science inspired poetry magazine GRAVITRON. She has a chapbook of poetry set to release later this year. Ever-grateful to be teaching at Divine, Coco looks forward to meeting her new students and hopes to actively contribute to their practices.

Kayla Harteg

Kayla began attending classes at Divine in hopes of reducing her anxiety and gaining back the flexibility and strength she had lost. She had never practiced yoga before, and it had been a long time since she had any sort of exercise routine. She was a bit nervous about looking and feeling silly but gave it a shot anyway. She found that, after a few classes, she felt more comfortable and wanted to continue learning.

Once Kayla arrives on her mat, even on tough days when motivation is hard to come by, she feels peace and gratitude. The outside world and its stresses begin to fade, and she can focus on the here and now. She also feels a strong sense of belonging alongside fellow Divine yogis and appreciates the freedom to be her authentic self. These experiences have reinforced her belief that yoga is for everyone and inspired Kayla to pursue teacher training at Divine and begin teaching.

Kayla's goal is to ensure her students feel welcome and find confidence in their yoga journey.

Mikayla Renko

Mikayla first started practicing yoga at age 13 at a community center in her highschool while searching for a way to be more physically active. However, she found a passion for yoga after meeting an instructor who focused heavily on breath. The way her mind cleared when she linked her movement with breath amazed her.

Since then she has always turned to yoga when she needs to get her thoughts straight. When she is on her mat, she often surprises herself with her strength and endurance, which is what inspires her to show others they are capable of more than they realize as well.

Mikayla loves to attend Power Vinyasa classes and finds she always feels happier and stronger after a session. The power she feels in herself after a class is what motivates her to teach this beautiful and highly beneficial practice. Mikayla first attended Divine Power Yoga looking to further her knowledge of the practice of yoga, but quickly fell in love with the studio and felt at home.
